What must you bring along?

Please bring along a black plastic rubbish bag, sleeping bag, bug spray, water (2 liters pp per day), energy drinks (optional), cooldrinks, alcoholic beverages, sunscreen, sunglasses, a sarong to protect your legs from sunburn, a broad brim/wide brim hat, a light towel, toilet paper, snacks/sweets, a bathing costume, slops or sandals, camera or phone, a small waterproof bag for your phone or camera, a pillow, aqua shoes/booties, a light waterproof jacket, two changes of clothing, toiletries, soap/shampoo, windbreaker, appropriate clothing for the adventure, and for wearing at night. Sometimes it may get cool in the evenings, so a light fleece top would be recommended

Facilities at the Base Camp and what to expect once you arrive.

On arrival, you will be met by Terence and his guides, and they will assist you to settle in. Your tent will already be pitched and ready to move into. Please note that two people will be sharing a tent, so decide ahead of time who you will be sharing with. If you are single though, you will have your own tent. There are showers and ablution facilities at the base camp, as well as power to charge your phones. There are also fridges to keep drinks cool if required.

After supper, you can chill around the fire at your leisure and will then sleep in your tent. The next morning you will wake up early, around 6:00 am, shower, have breakfast, and will then be transported to the put-in place on the river to commence your rafting adventure. You will camp and sleep on the riverbank for the next 2 nights. Once you reach the pull-out place on day 4, everyone will be transported back to the base camp. You will then be able to take a shower and relax. Normally a potjie dinner or braai is served on the last evening. You will once again sleep in your tent and the next morning you can pack up all your belongings and depart after breakfast, at your leisure.

What does Adventure Rafting supply for the adventure?

Adventure Rafting will supply all the rafting equipment, a 3-man tent (these are more than big enough for 2 people), a groundsheet, cutlery, crockery, a 60-litre dry bag for your clothing and stuff you need to keep dry, a cooler box and ice (for your snacks, water, drinks, alcoholic beverages). All the meals and tea/coffee are included too, from supper on the afternoon you arrive, until breakfast on the day you depart. If you have any special dietary requirements, please advise us about this ASAP. The guides will make a fire every night during your adventure for you to relax around after the day of rafting.

Safety requirements

Safety is paramount on these adventures and if there are any issues prior to the trip, Terence will let you know well in advance. Please always obey all instructions from Terence and his team of guides.

No alcohol is allowed daily during the actual rafting part of the adventure on the river for obvious safety reasons. Once you reach the camping spots daily in the afternoon, you are welcome to drink your alcoholic beverages. Please do not bring any glass bottles on the river, only tins, plastic, or tetra packs. Glass is hazardous once broken and can cause severe injuries, so is not permitted.

Although no previous rafting experience is required for these adventures, a moderate level of fitness is necessary, and everyone is expected to be able to swim.
